What does the Wandana Community Centre do? | The Wandana Community Centre is becoming the hub of 'Learning Community'. A 'Learning Community' is a community that values lifelong learning and offers opportunities for everyone to follow their interests and take part in activities. Activities include informal groups, classes, volunteering and training. These varied opportunities allow us to expand our horizons and learn more about ourselves and others as well as any topic of interests to us.
Considered volunteering at Wandana Community Centre?
Volunteers are welcome to become a part of the Community Centre and help us achieve our aim as a 'Learning Community'. Come and join our volunteer training sessions on a variety of interesting and informative topics. Come and talk to Rille Walshe our Community Centre manager about ways in which you might like to be involved. Telephone Rille on 8369 1886 or email.
| | Welcome to Term 2 at Wandana Community Centre | We have an exciting new course on Tuesday evenings for people who are thinking about returning to work after time out of the workforce. This will be an opportunity to assess your personal skills and learn some new skills (including some computing, how to deal with conflict situations, and more) to do some planning and put together a resume. Book in now!
A new Tai Chi course, on Tuesdays at 1pm, is suitable for beginners. Tai Chi is a gentle but very effective exercise often recommended for people with arthritis. It’s great for fitness and relaxation so why not give it a try!
We will organise a couple of holiday activities for children in the July school holidays so check with the Centre towards the end of term for details.
Look out in the next few months for more information and a survey for our Safer Community Project, an injury prevention program for our local area. More about this later!
We still do not have a date for the move to our new premises at 14 Blacks Road, Gilles Plains. Our activities for the term will all commence at Wandana Ave and we will continue to inform you of developments.
Warm Regards
Rille Walshe OAM
Manager, Wandana Community Centre
