Work Experience and Skills Development
ASK Employment and Training Services (ASK) will work with you to ensure you become work-ready by creating a career pathway for you utilising:
Access to diverse and flexible work experience, alongside training and job search support, is one way job seekers can become work-ready and improve their employment prospects. Other services include:
- Individual Case Management
- Under their individually tailored Employment Pathway Plan, job seekers can participate in a Work Experience activity at any time. However, if job seekers remain unemployed for a year or more they may move into the Work Experience phase.
Work Experience will help you to:
- Develop your skills on the job
- Demonstrate your abilities to potential employers
- Obtain references
- Meet new work contacts
- Take part in structured training
- Stay connected to the workforce.
Job seekers can choose to undertake a range of Work Experience activities that can be part time, casual or full time, and either paid or unpaid, including:
- Work for the Dole activities
- Green Corps (environmental activities available to all eligible job seekers)
- Work in a social enterprise
- Drought Force farm work
- Defence Force Reserves
- Voluntary work
- Unpaid work experience
- Part-time or casual paid employment, and
- Part-time study including through the Productivity Places Program and other
- Accredited vocational training
